What are the differences between market orders, limit order, stop limit orders, stop loss orders, and stop orders? This video covers the stock order types in detail so you understand how your stock market transactions are executed. Market orders execute the transaction as soon as possible at the current market price, which may not reflect the price you see when you initiate the transaction due to the bid-ask spread. Limit orders allow you to set limits on what amount you’re willing to buy or sell at, although they are not guaranteed to be executed. There are two types of limit orders: day limit orders and good-til-cancelled limit orders. Stop orders function similarly to limit orders but look in the opposite direction: stop orders allow you to set a threshold to automatically sell or buy before a stock has risen or fallen too much. Stop loss orders refer to sell stop orders because they are generally used to stop a larger loss before it occurs.

Limit order and Stop order. Why not do a call and put. You can also pick up some fees for your effort.

If I want to take a profit, would you suggest a sell stop order rather than a sell stop limit order? Can you have two sell stop limits or sell stop (one high and one low) on the same stock you own? For instance, Sofi is currently $16.21. If I wanted to automatically sell if it drops to $16.00 AND I want an automatic sell if it hits $20.00 can I have two stop limit orders on the same shares of Sofi stock?

@MrAledez
The best explanation for stop and limit orders I've seen using the examples really helps and explaining that just because we put in a buy order doesn't mean we'll get it at that price. I did not know that
@bomar080
Thanks, you cleared a few things I wasn’t quite sure

Hello Alex, thank you for this great video. I'm a complete novice, so this was very helpful for my non-technical brain!!! Can I just ask a question regarding a stop loss order please. If I decide to sell some shares and I don't want to sell for any less than USD $2.00. Am I correct in thinking I would set a stop of say USD $2.00 which is as low as I'm prepared to go. If I set my limit to USD $2.50, but suddenly my shares are trading at on average USD $5.00 that day, will my trading platform automatically sell at around USD $5.00, or will my sell request go through as USD $2.50? Sorry, this is probably a very obvious question, but I just want to check my understanding. Thanks very much.

Day trading scam alert.
To any one that is starting to experience day training, I have a very sad story here. There is this group that call themselves the 3redgroups. What this group is doing is running video ads on YouTube using Kevin O'Leary's image scamming people into their fake day trading platform, you will lose $350 dollars Canadian once you invest it. The scammers will show you on how easy you are making money with this platform and will ask to invest more money, which this is a trap. The scammer will want to go after any liquid assets that you said you have. The trap here is that after they have your money the will lock you out and you lose it all. Don't invest anything with these scammers. The other thing is that they will keep calling you with phony numbers that you have to block every day , when you phone back that number is out of service. Funny thing is that they are foreigners with really bad accents and have English names that don't jive with their personas, this tells you they are fake. The 3redgroups is a day trading group that has to be stop. Share this post to as many people as possible.

That was useful and timely for this new investor.
I've been repeatedly annoyed to see transactions occurring at the "wrong price" and wondered how to correct this.
Fortunately these have been small transactions so far.
Today, I'll set a few limits to see the difference.
Thanks.
