Heikin-Ashi, also sometimes spelled Heiken-Ashi, means “average bar” in Japanese. The Heikin-Ashi technique can be used in conjunction with candlestick charts when trading securities to spot market trends and predict future prices. It’s useful for making candlestick charts more readable and trends easier to analyze. For example, traders can use Heikin-Ashi charts to know when to stayin trades while a trend persists but get out when the trend pauses or reverses. Most profits are generated when markets are trending, so predicting trends correctly is necessary.

The Heikin-Ashi Formula
Normal candlestick charts are composed of a series of open-high-low-close (OHLC) candles set apart by a time series. The Heikin-Ashi technique shares some characteristics with standard candlestick charts but uses a modified formula of close-open-high-low (COHL):

What is scalping?
Scalping is a trading strategy designed to profit from small price changes, with profits on these trades taken quickly and once a trade has become profitable. All forms of trading require discipline, but because the number of trades is so large, and the gains from each individual trade so small, a scalper must have a rigid adherence to their trading system, avoiding one large loss that could wipe out dozens of successful trades.

Scalpers will take many small profits, and not run any winners, in order to seize gains as and when they appear. The aim is for a successful trading strategythrough the large number of winners, rather than a few successful trades with large winning sizes.

Scalping relies on the idea of lower exposure risk, since the actual time in the market on each trade is quite small, lessening the risk of an adverse event causing a big move. In addition, it takes the view that smaller moves are easier to get than larger ones, and that smaller moves are more frequent than larger ones.

Biggest lesson of 2022 in the stock market: Nobody knows what is going to happen next, so practice some humility and follow a strategy with a long term edge.

in your Swing trading video, you said multiple times that using Heikin Ashi for scalping is detrimental. Does this strategy mitigate that, especially the stop loss piece of it?

I was wondering how you do riskmanagement? You sell or buy and once in the trade you setup a SL and TP. But with riskmanagement you have to calculate a position size beforehand, how would I do that when you don't have a SL/TP yet?

guys, when using this strategy keep an eye out for that tiny bit of wick that may form beneath or over the candles making the signals invalid

The problem in your back test is you draw getting in on the next HA candle, but the actual market price by definition is no where near there. When you switch back to regular candles to do the stop loss and profit target, the entry price is invalid.

Hi, I have a question. When you switch back from Heikin Ashi to Japanese candles and like others commented as well, what would your entry look like? When I switch to the candles, they're already half up in the green long position area, where there is no profit for me. I hope you understand my question. How to work with that?

I rarely see a HA candle without wicks – what I see more often with trend change (and true across multiple time frames) is the formation of the traditional Doji. Link that with an approaching support resistance line, seems like high percentage of wins. Same on exit, HA candles become shorter (at least the body does). Link all this with your favorite indicator (MACD, etc) and again, high percentage of correct calls

At 3:50ish in your vid you say, take the first bullish candle, I think you mean bearish candle? You're pointing to price action that just rejected off the 50 and has started to produce no wick red bearish candles. Love your vids
